The 1997 Prelude is available in two models. The Prelude is all-new design for this year. New feature for the automatic transmission this year is a Sequential SportShift that allows the driver an option of shifting manually. The automatic transmission also features Grade Logic Control that avoids gear hunting when going uphill or downhill. The ignition key features Immobilizer anti-theft system which reads the digitally coded radio signal; and disable the fuel injection and ignition if an attempt is made to improperly start the car. The SH features an innovative Active Torque Transfer System (ATTS) that enhance vehicle control and stability when turning. The VTEC engine horsepower is reduced to 190 with the automatic transmission.
