The 1997 F-250 Regular Cab is available in six models, Standard, XL and Heavy-Duty in both 2WD and 4WD. The F250 targets a wide array of truck users, by way of light duty and heavy duty suspensions. The standard suspension has a payload of 2400 and trailer weight of 2100 with optional weights up to 3340 lbs and 8700 lbs respectively. The F250 has a look with a redesigned front fascia and front grille. Additional new features include a shift-on-the-fly which allows the driver to shift into 4WD while on the move. A 4.6L V8 210 hp engine is standard, and in the event more power is needed an optional 5.6L Triton V8 is available. Both engines are available with Platinum tipped spark plugs which allows 100,000 miles between tune-ups.
