All new for 1997, the Expedition is available as a four-door sport utility vehicle in two trim levels - XLT and Eddie Bauer in both two- and four-wheel drive. The Expedition replaces the Bronco, and is Ford's response to the growing demand for full-size sport utility vehicles. The Expedition comes with the new Triton 4.6L V8 engine which has 210 hp and 290 ft. lbs. of torque. A Triton 5.4L V8 is optional for those who need more power. For improved stopping, four wheel disc brakes are standard. The 4WD models offer a four-corner load leveling suspension that uses front and rear air shocks and will kneel down an inch when the ingnition is shut off. Expedition has standard seating for six, and offers optional seating for up to nine passengers.
