The 1997 F-150 SuperCab extended cab is available in six models - Styleside, Styleside XL and Flareside XL; 2WD or 4WD. The F-150 SuperCab has been redesigned to include a wider stance and increased length. The F-150 is the first full size truck to offer dual air bags as standard equipment (includes a passenger deactivation switch for a rear facing infant seat). Also new for 1997 is the Triton 4.6 liter overhead cam V8 engine, the first engine of its type offered on a full-size American truck. The SuperCab is the only full-size truck that offers a standard Third Door for easier rear seat access. A Flareside model is available with the SuperCab offering additional styling enhancements and is available with the XL, XLT and Lariat packages.
