The 1997 Ford F-150 regular cab is available in six models - (Base) Styleside, XL Styleside and XL Flareside; in 2WD or 4WD. For 1997, the F-150 has been completely redesigned and includes new aerodynamic styling and a longer, taller and wider stance. The F-150 is the first full-size truck to offer standard dual air bags (includes a passenger inactive switch). New safety features include side impact protection meeting 1999 federal requirements and optional 4-wheel ABS. The F-150 introduces both a new standard 4.2 liter 205 hp V6 engine and a 210 hp Triton V8 engine, the first ever overhead cam V8 engine in a domestic full-size truck. There is an Off-Road Package available with the 4X4 models which includes electric shift touch-drive.
