The 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier is available in five models - (Base) Coupe and Sedan, LS Sedan, Z24 Coupe and LS Convertible. New for 1996, base coupes offer revised preferred equipment groups and base sedans offer the optional Appearance Package. All Cavaliers feature dual air bags, four-wheel ABS, battery rundown protection and daytime running lights. LS Sedans, Z24 Coupes and LS Convertibles also feature air conditioning, floor mats, remote trunk release, tachometer, color-keyed bumpers and AM/FM cassette stereo. A 150hp 2.4L engine, tilt steering, fog lights and aluminum wheels are also standard on Z24 Coupes. Options include stereo upgrades, preferred equipment groups and a four-speed automatic transmission with traction control.
