The 1996 Chevrolet Camaro is available in six models - (Base) Coupe, Convertible, RS Coupe, RS Convertible, Z28 Coupe and Z28 Convertible. New for 1996, base coupes and convertibles feature a 200hp 3.8L V-6 engine as standard equipment and Z28 models offer a new SS alteration package. Z28 models feature air conditioning, a 285hp 5.7L V-8 engine, limited slip differential, dual exhaust and optional traction control. All models feature dual airbags, ABS brakes, AM/FM cassette stereo and Pass-Key II theft deterrent system. Coupes offer optional removable glass tops, while convertibles feature a standard power folding top. Additional options include leather seats, stereo upgrades, Performance Handling Package and preferred equipment groups.
